Match Report: Cape Fear
2/6/08 -- Well a disappointing loss Saturday to a committed
Cape Fear Side. It was definitely a case of a game of two halves.
Cape Fear won the first half 21-3 in a very forgettable half
for Greenville. We were our own worst enemy at times by trying
to play them at their game rather than playing to our strengths
on the day. The 2nd half was a far better half for Greenville
as we started to take them on up front and just wear them down
We clawed back from a 21-3 deficit at halftime to get to 21-18
with about 10 minutes to go. We gifted them an easy 3 from the
next kickoff which meant we needed a converted try to win it.
We pounded there line for what was a solid 10 minutes but we
came up just short. If we had another 5 minutes we would have
won it. Just came down to us not playing an 80 minute game and
not adapting our play earlier to our strengths. I think its
exactly the shot we needed to know that this years teams are
totally different from last years teams. We need to give every
team we play the respect we would a Charleston. Great heart
shown in the 2nd half to almost pull out the victory but we
never should have put ourselves in that difficult position in
the first place.
Lets get a big week of practice in now as we prepare for Columbia.
