Gentlemen,
Well it really was a heartbreaker of a loss this weekend. It was a game in which
we literally had 70% of the possession and territory but we could not capitalize
on our possession. We started the game off perfectly with well won lineout ball
which went through the entire backlines hands for Brecker to score an excellent
try in the corner. Charlotte managed to score 2 tries then against the run of
play which made it 5-12 at the half. Th esecond half was so frustrating. We literally
must have been camped inside their 22 for 30 of the 40 minutes without being able
to cross the line to score. The Gods just conspired against us to be able to finish
off our moves. Charlotte managed to run away with 2 more tries against the run
of play to hand us a gutwrenching defeat 2-27.
The bottom line in this game is that we haven't had a good practice as a team
in a couple of weeks so our timing was off on the lines we were running and our
support play an some of our setpiece work. And when we couldn't seem to score
we started trying to do too much as individuals rather than working as a team.
We have our last game against Cape Fear this weekend. Let's finish out the season
with an excellent victory. Our Achilles heal in games this year has been our finishing.
We ar egoing to have a touch practice tomorrow night but then a full team practice
thursday night. Let's finish this season with a strong victory over Cape Fear.
We are going to need to train as a team thursday night. So come on out for a light
run tomorrow night and the EVERYONE plan on being there Thursday night to practice
for this weekends victory over Cape Fear.
Let's play the way we all know we can.
